Using one thousand **xform nodes** to hold instances of a grain of sand for a particle simulation adds 1000 times more scene overhead as the xform node has a fixed cost. One **instancer node** is like supercharged xform nodethat can hold 1000 transformation matrices to position your grains of sand in your scene without as much overhead.
